One thing that is upsetting though is that other than a few things Lin says, at this point the show hasn’t really shown Aang’s personality.
I mean, I understand that he has to be serious in the fights and stuff, but there’s other things that just paint him as the super serious guy when he’s NOT
His statue is so fucking serious, and Tenzin calls him AANG . I know that’s because Tenzin’s super srs and all, but it does make it sound like he and Aang had a super srs relationship. I hope the show’s just accidentally being misleading and that they had fun too. :/

Oh gosh FEELINGS EXPLOSION.
Because Aang is literally going off to possibly die in this scene. That’s his biggest fear. He’s afraid something will go wrong, and he’ll die, and he won’t get the chance to show Katara his feelings for her.
He won’t get the chance to say he loves her.
So he chooses now, this moment, this brief and fleeting bit of peace they have before they have to focus their minds on the coming battle. And impulsively, spontaneously, throwing all second-guessing and doubt to the wind, kisses her. Lets her know his feelings Today because he might not get the chance Tomorrow. Because he doesn’t want to die without telling Katara he loves her.
And she just… melts into it. And tries to savor and prolong this moment. Because all too soon it’s over. And the battle is still looming. The war is not yet over. And they have a job to do.
Ngh, I love them so much.
